That’s when plant medicine is at its best.
Today’s herb is one I get goosebumps just thinking about –
Reishi or Lingzhi or ganoderma lucidum is the most widely studied herb in the world.
Known as the Immortality Herb it is being used in aggressive cancer treatments, depression, neurodegenerative diseases (like Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s) and is especially revered for its immune boosting and calming effects.
Last years cold and flu season was more than humbling for many – one of the worst we’ve seen in decades. A blend of medicinal mushrooms including Reishi is one I turned to in our own home to help boost immunity and to help our special needs son return to health after a several month battle with pneumonia.
SO – how can you add these wonderful herbs to your day?
Host Defence and Mushroom Harvest brands are both doing amazing work in bringing medicinal mushrooms to the west in sustainable ways and I recommend starting with their products.
Purchasing dried, pre-sliced reishi from reputable herb companies is a great way to add them to tea (buying a whole dried mushroom is just an effort in frustration – save yourself the exasperation and broken knives and hours and hours of strongly smelling tea simmering on the stove #imightspeakfromexperience).
This morning I brewed my last batch of a favorite blend of @criobru (cacao beans) that I’ve added Reishi & astragalus to as I’m getting ready to drive 8 hours with & spend the weekend wrangling a bunch of teenaged boys at a waterpolo tournament 😳- The calming & centering energy that comes from reishi really helped as I worked to get out the door.
I am continually adding many of my favorites to my Amazon page
You can always email me for a custom blend to be sent your way
or if you know of an herb shop in your town – head in there, tell them you have have heard of a few of these amazing adaptogens and see what they have on hand!
I’ll be putting some videos together of easy blends you can make at home – stay tuned!
(I can hardly wait to get up and share what I love each and every day and so grateful for those who have reached out to say these posts are helpful ❤️I’d love suggestions as I build this platform to support you in your efforts to rebuild, restore & replenish your way to health)
